As British Columbia continues to realize a significant spike in the number of cases of COVID-19 in recent weeks, Northern Health has provided for a message for residents across the North ahead of this long weekend, with the Health Authority reminding residents of Northern BC of the importance of safe and small gatherings towards the ongoing efforts on the coronavirus.
With data posted to the BC CDC website showing an increase in COVID activity over the last two weeks in BC and Northern BC, Northern Health refreshed our memories on the measures in place on Gatherings and Events.
As well as to reinforce the need to keep groups small and maintaining such protocols as hand washing and staying home if we are not feeling well.

To date, 167 cases of COVID have been reported in the Northern Health region, with 44 cases currently considered active, thankfully there have been no deaths reported in the North related to the coronavirus.
In August the BC CDC released data that noted that the Prince Rupert area has been fortunate so far to not have any cases of COVID reported locally.
Yesterday, the Nisga'a Valley Health Authority updated its advisory on COVID, noting that there are three confirmed cases now recorded from a recent community memorial.
