Some once familiar faces on your television from years past on the North Coast are now set to reappear on the big stage of Global Television, with two former Bell Media North broadcast journalists now part of the Global News team in Vancouver.
The two, Kamil Karamali and Christa Dao have made the perfectly sane decision to abandon eastern climates before the first snows and bitter cold winds hit.
Mr. Karamali making the shift from Global Toronto to Vancouver, while Ms. Dao crosses over the Rockies from Global Calgary for her next assignments with Global News BC.
Both paid some of their media dues in Prince Rupert from the Atlin Terminal studios of Bell Media North over the last decade. Just two of the many broadcast journalists who have shared the stories of the North Coast before making their mark in larger markets.
Mr. Karamali's tour of duty in the region was from 2012 to 2013, while Ms. Dao signed off from the North Coast news beat in December of 2015.
Mr. Karamali who has been on the job in Vancouver since the start of the month shared his new career trajectory in mid August.
Ms. Dao made her farewells to Calgary in early September and we await her first report from the Global News Assignment desk.
With a growing roster of former Prince Rupert broadcasters setting up shop in Vancouver, the North Coast and Northwest at least will be hopeful of a more prominent presence in storylines in newscasts to come.
And at least we should hear less mangling of the pronunciations of local communities and items of note from the region, with the newest additions to the Global News team able to share their past Northwest experiences.
You can follow the two broadcast journalist along on their newest journey through their social media feeds.
