The week of extreme rainfall is making for some challenges for many communities in the region, among the notable ones, Prince Rupert having issued a Boil Water Notice on Tuesday and now word from the Lax Kw'alaams Band of a Water Conservation Advisory for their residents.
In a message posted to their Social Media page and on the Lax Kw'alaams website, Band officials have outlined the need for residents to conserve their water usage where possible, noting that while safe for consumption the rainfall is creating a situation where the water treatment plant cannot treat the tap water as quickly as it normally does.
Residents of the community are advised to monitor the Band's communication sources of their website and Facebook page for updates as the situation continues.
