For those that have travelled along the Rushbrook Trail the last few weeks, the area has been a beehive of activity as the popular eatery Bobs on the Rocks goes through a bit of renovation work.

With the Gitmaxmak'ay Group working to expand the footprint for the take out home of fish and chips and much more in Prince Rupert.

Through their Social media page, Bob's On the Rocks has outlined what's ahead

The expanded footprint comes following City Council having called for any comments related to a proposed five year lease for the popular spot on the eastern waterfront; that civic engagement process came to an end on March 26th, though the topic of the lease decision has not come up at any recent Council sessions.

In February the Gitmaxmak'ay Group announced it had purchased Bob's on the Rocks operating it through the summer and making for some renovations to the kitchen facilities at the time.

You check out some photos from he job site and can follow the progress of the renovation from their Social Media feed.

  1. Always great to see business expansion.

But, that expansion is quite easy to do, when you enter into a commercial lease with the city at five years at $5,074.79 plus GST annually for what was 2518 sqft pre expansion.

Is there any other commercial lease (private or city owned) in this area even close to that rate?

If there was, maybe you would see other businesses expanding as well?

    Just sayin'
