Special Weather Statement issued for North Coast, Prince Rupert area

on the North Coast and Haida Gwaii

 Prince Rupert has been added to the growing list of weather alerts for the Northwest, with Environment Canada issuing a SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT shortly after 3:30 on Friday.

The Weather service making note of an atmospheric river on the way with heavy rain, strong winds and high freezing levels.

As we noted in our notes of earlier this afternoon, rainfall totals for Prince Rupert are anticipated to be in the range of 100 to 150 mm. 

The weather statement notes that lesser amounts expected for Haida Gwaii and Kitimat and that the weather event will ease on Monday morning.

The Rainfall event for the coast, will bring some snow to the Highway 16 corridor area, and already Stewart to the North is feeling the impact of the weather.
