Funding announced today for Coast Mountain College to be used towards technology and trades programs

The Provincial government has announced another investment in education across British Columbia with Coast Mountain College among those to benefit from some supportive funding.

North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice today made note of where than support is going and how it will be used in the Northwest.

“New technology and equipment for the trades is constantly being developed. By investing in new  equipment at Coast Mountain College and other post-secondary institutions, we are giving students access to the most up-to-date technology, improving their learning experience and better preparing them for the jobs of today and tomorrow.” 

For Coast Mountain College the funding  announcement means that  up to $150,000 to support new equipment and technology for programs such as Automotive Service Technician, Heavy Mechanical Trades, Millwright Foundation and Welding Foundation. 

Coast Mountain College is one of 20 institutions across the province that are each receiving up to $150,000 to buy equipment for trades and technology programs, with a total government investment of $3 million. 

The plan ahead is for Public post-secondary institutions to replace obsolete equipment and acquire up-to-date technology, which will ensure students’ training remains relevant and meets the needs of employers.

So far, Coast Mountain College has not outlined how it plans to distribute their 150,000 and which campus location will see the benefits of the additional funds.
