No transit to Haida Gwaii today as BC Ferries
cancels sailings ahead of approaching weather system

With a range of Weather Warnings to review, BC Ferries has announced the cancellation of today's Northern Expedition Sailing from Prince Rupert to Haida Gwaii and the return sailing for tomorrow morning from Skidegate to Prince Rupert.

The Ferry Corporation released the details of their plans as part of a Service Notice issued this morning.

The decision comes as Hecate Straight has seen a Hurricane Force Wind Warning put in place, with winds of up to 65 knots today and tonight, diminishing by Monday evening.

Seas are expected to be at 7 to 9 metres at the peak point of the approaching system.
