Approaching 'Weather bomb' to set up off Southwestern tip of Haida Gwaii and Central Coast, set to deliver Wind and Rain through week

There's a lot of weather energy building off the North and Souther n
regions of the West Side of Haida Gwaii and both will play a
role in the upcoming weather for the week in the region
(From the Environment Canada satellite imagery maps)

The Weather Network is using some colourful language to describe the weather system approaching Haida Gwaii this afternoon, with the Forecast agency noting of the Third 'Weather Bomb' to make its way towards British Columbia in the last three weeks.

Their report offering some background as to what's ahead for those on a coastline from the southern tip of Vancouver Island to Haida Gwaii

"The third bomb cyclone in less than three weeks is targeting British Columbia once again, in a stubborn and relentless unsettled pattern that just doesn't want to break. Just as the rain and high elevation snow briefly eases through Monday, another potent and rapidly deepening system will push in later in the day. This next system threatens powerful southeast winds over the west coast of Vancouver Island, the Central Coast and Haida Gwaii, likely to remain intense through Tuesday."

Environment Canada's forecast isn't quite as dramatic, nor features graphs and visuals, but the WIND WARNING issued earlier this morning does provide a look at what's coming the way of Haida Gwaii.

For those who like track weather events the Windy.com program provides a snapshot of the wind conditions through the next few days with the push from the northwest impacting the West coast of Haida Gwaii and swirling through the Hecate Strait and onto the Central Coast.

It's those winds tonight, overnight and thru Tuesday that gave cause for BC Ferries to cancel tonight's sailing of the Northern Expedition, a STORM WARNING making note of anticipated seas building to six metres as the full hit comes in.

At its peak, the winds will increase from the Southeast to 55 knots by Tomorrow morning.

For all the bluster off shore, for Prince Rupert,  the upcoming few days will be more of a rain event over that of wind, at least that's the situation ahead so far according to the Environment Canada forecast.

Up to Over 80 mm of rain is anticipated by Friday for the Prince Rupert area, the two heaviest periods for rain coming on Tuesday and at the end of the week

We get a respite on Saturday, then another weather system sets up for arrival on Sunday and into the early part of next week.
