4 incumbents, 1 newcomer set to take part in SD52 election race to date

As the hours tick by today towards the 4 PM deadline for nominations, some of the School District 52 race is starting to shape up.

With four of the seven incumbents re-upping for another run for office.

The 2022 Board of Trustees will look a little bit different that as  Trustees Tina Last and Bart Kuntz set to step aside following the September 20th Board meeting.

From that collective, the majority of the current Board membership has now declared for the October 15th race.

As of yesterday, the four incumbents to hand in their nomination packages included:

James Horne, Kristy Maier, Louisa Sanchez and Kate Toye, that would leave only Janet Beil to declare whether she will be running in the 2022 vote.

Those seeking a return to office are joined by a challenger for one of the seats in Stephanie M. Watkins

The Prince Rupert School District consists of Six representatives from the City of Prince Rupert and one rural trustee.

The full background to the SD52 Nomination process can be reviewed here.

We'll have a better idea as to how many candidates plan to contest the 2022 election later today or over the weekend as the nomination packages are filed with election officials.
