Strong weather system set to arrive tonight, last into the weekend
***Update ***: Environment Canada upgraded their warning to a Wind Warning for the North Coast coastal sections, with Southeast winds from 70 to 100 km/h anticipated (see warning here)
The North Coast is set to receive another soaking for the weekend, with a strong Pacific weather system about to introduce itself starting this afternoon.
Rain at times heavy will be in the forecast this evening and overnight, with total accumulations for the next 24 hours to be near 70mm. Winds will pick up through the day, with winds from the SE at 40 to 60 km/h in the afternoon, increasing to 90 km/h overnight.
The periods of rain will continue on through the weekend and into the early period of next week.
The anticipated arrival of the weather system has given Environment Canada cause to once again issue a Rainfall Warning for areas inland of the North Coast, with Kitimat apparently the target for the bulk of the moisture as it comes ashore.
