Members of the Prince Rupert detachment attended to a complaint of an assault at a residence on Hays Vale Drive at approximately 5:25 AM on January 1st, upon arrival the responding members were met by several occupants suffering from the effects of what appeared to be bear spray, with one individual shot.
Witnesses in the area advised police that there had been a New Year's party taking place in the residence on New Year's Eve.
Through further interviews at the scene it was determined that two suspects had entered the residence in the early morning hours, spraying the residents and shooting the one individual.
That victim was transported to Prince Rupert Regional Hospital and is undergoing treatment for non-life threatening injuries related to the gun shot.
No further information regarding the incident is being released at this time, with the RCMP looking to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Prince Rupert RCMP is asking that anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the local detachment at 250-627-0700 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
