All roads lead to Terrace for Riverboat days this weekend

For many, the exodus to the east will begin today, as residents of the North Coast make their annual trek to Terrace and the mid-summer festival known as Riverboat Days.

The opening ceremonies take place on Friday evening with the 2017 edition kicking off at 7 PM. Sporting events, cultural activities and a large number of family friendly events make up the itinerary during the course of the ten day festival.

As always, Saturday by far is the busiest day for Riverboat Days with events spread out around the city, offering up something for everyone, whether indoors or out.

The focus for many of the Downtown events will be at George Little Park, with that venue the host of a day of music on Saturday with headliners 54-40 taking the stage at 7 PM

For those that can't make the 90 minute trip east this year, CFTK TV will be broadcasting the popular Riverboat Days parade live, with the visuals from the parade as it works its way through the downtown area set to be showcased starting at 11 AM on Saturday.

Saturday night features the Fireworks extravaganza taking place at the North end of Ferry island, with the first of the bursts set for launch at 11 PM.

To make getting around the city easier this weekend, BC Transit is offering Free Transit Service on all routes for both Saturday and Sunday.

Those that are camping around the Terrace area this weekend for the celebration should be aware that the City of Terrace has once again put their small fire ban in place throughout the city limits, a provincial ban has been in effect throughout the Northwest since the start of July.
