Final days of preparation underway for Mount Hays QuickClimb

It's twelve days and counting now until North Coast residents launch their next assault on the Mountain, with the Mount Hays QuickClimb set for Saturday, August 12th.

The popular run up one of Prince Rupert's most recognizable sights is a family fun event, which sees runners, walkers and parents with strollers making the ascent and return trek down to a celebration BBQ at the foot of Mount Hays.

After a five year absence, the event was brought back to the local scene by a group of dedicated volunteers in May of 2015, securing both individual and corporate financing and rebuilding the infrastructure required to put on an event of such scale.

The planning for 2017 began long ago and now with less than two weeks until climb day, the focus is turning towards registration time and putting the finishing touches on the days events.

Race Day Registration on August 12th Opens at 8 AM, while the first fleet of climbers head up the mountain at 8:30AM.

The BBQ is fired up at 11:30, with the Prizes and draws for the day to be handed out at 1:30 PM.

There is a range of fees related to the QuickClimb to help cover the costs of the events, they range from Free for toddlers to 25 dollars for adults, the full race schedule can be found below:

You can register for the event here.

If you don't feel the urge to tackle the Mountain, you can still become involved in the event, with organizers currently looking for volunteers for a number of QuickClimb day duties.

You can learn more about the event from the Mount Hays QuickClimb Facebook page  or twitter feed
