Final plans in motion for 5th annual Fraser Street Block Party

Fraser Street will be the centre of attraction in a few weeks as the three block stretch of the street in the city's downtown west side is turned into a street carnival.

Set for Saturday, August 19th, and centred around the Prince Rupert Friendship House the five hour festival will offer up a range of family friendly activities from 10 until 3 PM.

Among some of the plans for the day:

Sidewalk Chalk displays
Live Music
Face Painting
Bouncy Council
Nail Driving Contest

More activities have still to be finalized.

Food will also make for part of the vibe, with Fry Bread available, as well as the popular watermelon eating contest once again back for the bravest of heart and largest of appetites ...

Those that take in the days events will also be eligible for a number of giveaway planned through the course of the Block Party.

Prince Rupert's Fraser Street Community will be hosting the Fifth Annual
Fraser Street Block Party on Saturday August 19th from 10 to 3

Now celebrating year number Five, what has become a popular mid-summer street event got its start back in 2012 with the first edition, growing with each successive year as more and more local groups become involved in the festivities.

Funding, prizes and volunteering for events is coming from a number of Prince Rupert sources, many of them located on the three block stretch of the city.

Updates on the Block Party as it gets closer may be found through the Friendship House of Prince Rupert Facebook page, while there you can explore some of the many services that are offered through that Fraser Street organization.
