North Coast residents make plans for Terry Fox Run 2017 this Sunday

Sunday is the day for the Terry Fox Run in Prince Rupert

The annual fundraising run in support of the Terry Fox Foundation and in memory of Terry Fox is set for this Sunday, with hopes for another large and enthusiastic turnout for the start line at Northern Savings Credit Union.

Registration for the Prince Rupert run starts at Noon on Sunday, with the actual run set to get underway at 1 PM.

Many of those taking part in this years event have been busy over the last few weeks collecting pledges from family, friends and co-workers.

One familiar face seen in the city last week was that of Jim Terrion, now living in Prince Geroge, he returns to the North Coast each year to seek out pledges from the community. His tireless efforts on behalf of the Terry Fox Run have provided close to 700,000 dollars for the Foundation since 1991.

Mr. Terrion was honoured in Prince George last year for those efforts

This year organizers have two routes available for participants to choose from, a 3 Kilometre or 7 Kilometre tour around the city, with Northern Savings on Third Avenue West serving as both the start and finish line.

Once you travel the city and return to cross the finish line, you're invited to enjoy some snacks courtesy of Much Gusto Catering, as well, participants will be eligible for a number of door prizes that have been collected by Northern Savings for the event.

Last year 119 participants took to the streets, raising over 27,000 dollars for the Terry Fox Foundation which puts those resources towards cancer research.
