SD52 sends correspondences to Minister on Governance and Aboriginal Education funding

SD52 has sent two letters on current
issues to the new Minister of Education
With a new minister comes a need for new introductions and a review of some issues of note and for School District 52.

And this month, SD52 has taken note of the the shift of Rob Fleming into the Education Ministry over the summer and taken that opportunity to weigh in on a pair of education themes.

School Board Chair Tina Last has composed a letter that asks for reconsideration of a response from earlier this year on Aboriginal Education Funding.

In their September missive to the Minister, the School District continues to seek additional core funding for Aboriginal Education learning resources and staff to implement the redesigned curriculum.

The other letter to the new minister expresses the School District's welcome response to plans of the new government to review the process involved for the British Columbia Public Schools Employers Association, that association is currently under the administration of a Public Administrator.

In her correspondence to the Minister, School Board Chair Last notes that it is essential that the Board of Directors be composed of trustees to resume the oversight of the Association, adding that SD52 looks forward to participating in that review process.
