Residents of the Northwest and Haida Gwaii will be gazing off into the distance thanks to a project initiated by Northern Savings Credit Union, which has delivered fixed binoculars to a number of locations in the region.
As part of their celebration of International Credit Union day, coming up on October 19th, the Prince Rupert based financial institution has donated four binocular viewing stations in each of the communities where Northern Savings branches are located.
The initiative which is part of their celebration of Canada 150 will see the binocular stations put in place at Prince Rupert's Pacific Mariners Park.

There are two stations set up on Haida Gwaii, one near the Queen Charlotte Maritime Memorial Cenotaph and the other in Masset at Tow Hill.
The Terrace binocular station has been place at the Kalum Hill Viewpoint.
Northern Savings Interim CEO Fay Brooker hailed the plan as one that puts the spotlight on the regions spectacular vistas.
“We are fortunate at Northern Savings to have our branches situated within some of the most beautiful scenery in all of Canada. We will provide and install a Hi-Spy Dual Viewers in each of our communities to showcase the spectacular views in each area,”
The binocular viewers will provide a dual viewer experience, with a set up in place at standing height and one located lower for wheelchair accessibility and the use of children.
