Green Building Council on the hunt for Canada's Greenest School

An opportunity for fame and a touch of fortune is up for grabs this month as the Canada Green Building Council hosts a competition to find Canada's Greenest School.

The program is looking to put the focus on environmental education in the classroom, themes of sustainability and putting those concepts into practice on a day to day basis.

The project which is focused on schools from Kindergarten to Grade Twelve offers 2,000 dollars in prize money to be put to use for a green activity, along with the title of Greenest School in Canada.

More on the criteria for submissions and how the competition works can be explored here.

The deadline for submissions is April 30th.

The Greenest School in Canada competition was launched in 2014 by the Canadian Coalition for Green Schools, a group comprised of members of the green building industry who are contributing their time and expertise to supporting Canadian communities in the transformation of their schools.

In addition to the Greenest School in Canada competition, schools across the country are also encouraged to submit their green projects and activities to receive a merit certificate, as a part of the Green Apple Program.

You can find out more about the efforts of the Canada Green Building Council from their website or Facebook page or twitter feed.
