4.7 quake recorded off Vancouver Island Friday night

Another in a string of earthquakes in the  4.5 to 5 magnitude range
was recorded off Port Hardy late Friday night

While not as dramatic as the 7.0 quake of earlier in the day in Anchorage, British Columbia had its own seismic event on Friday as a 4.7 temblor was recorded off of Vancouver Island just after 11:30 PM.

Located 156 kilometres West/Southwest of Port Hardy it was located in much the same area as a string of similar sized seismic events in recent months.

Friday's quake had a depth of 10 kilometres.

More background on the event can be reviewed here.

As for this mornings major earthquake in Anchorage, since the 7.2 shaker shortly after 8:30 AM Alaska time, the community has received over 170 after shocks with six of them recorded at 5.0 or more.
