Local Data Report shows COVID ebb and flow across Northwest

Today's Local Health data release from the BC CDC brings some mixed results for the Bulkley and Skeena Valley and Nechako regions, which saw some success in lowering numbers in some communities, while increases are found in others for the week of September 26 to October 2.

For Prince Rupert the week was once again a mostly positive one, with the total of cases holding at five from the information period, that amount an increase of three from last week.

But again a transit eastbound once again highlights the challenges for Northern health particularly past the Bulkley Valley and on to Prince George.

The full review across the region looks as follows:

Nechako -- 94 cases
Smithers
 -- 56 cases
Burns Lake -- 28 cases
Upper Skeena --  27 cases
Terrace -- 24 cases
Kitimat -- 12 cases
Bella Coola Valley -- 8 cases
Snow Country-Stikine- Telegraph Creek -- 8 cases
Prince Rupert --  5 cases
Haida Gwaii -- 2 case
Nisga'a Region --
 1 case
Central Coast -- 0 cases

Wednesday's provincial report lists 130 new cases for Northern Health,  829 Active cases.

There are currently 84 residents of the North hospitalized from COVID , with 15 listed as requiring Critical Care.

As well, much as it was last week, the pressures on the Northern Health system have resulted in more transfers of patients to points south and the cancellation of other surgeries at many of the health facilities in the Northern Health Region as well as in those jurisdictions where Northerners are being transferred.
