With hockey back for a new year. Some Northwest names to follow through the year for Prince Rupert hockey fans

It's Hockey Season at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre and
for rinks across North America wherever former
Northwest players can be found

After a couple of challenging seasons, Hockey's back and whether its the launch of the Prince Rupert Rampage season this week, the travels of the PRMHA into the winter or the Show on TV every night, North Coast hockey fans will all have something to cheer about and follow through to the spring.

Across British Columbia and in some cases far beyond, players from the Northwest can be found in small and large communities which play temporary home for  some of the talented players that once took to the ice in arenas from Vanderhoof to Prince Rupert.

For North Coast hockey fans there are a few players with Prince Rupert ties recent and past to keep track of as the 2021-22 hockey season rolls out.

Brett Fudger is on Vancouver Island, his next step taking him to Duncan, the BCHL and the Cowichan Capitals. It's his second year with the team having played in last year's Pod season. Fudger was with the Vernon Vipers in the 2019-20 season.

More information on the Capitals can be reviewed here.

One tier lower, Ben Northcott is playing for the Kerry Park Islanders of the Vancouver Island Junior league. Follow the Islanders here.

Taylor Northcott has taken her talents to Arizona, holding the blue line for the Sun Devils in NCAA Women's hockey.  Notes on the Sun Devils can be explored here.

In Prince George, two Rupertites are playing in the newly christened British Columbia Elite Hockey League, the new brand name for what was once called Major Midget.

Magnus Veldman and Cooper Magnusson are both representing Prince Rupert as they look to move their hockey path forward in the top level spotlight.

For the rest of the region, so far we've counted up fifteen players from across the Northwest taking to the ice across the province, Canada and the USA.

We will keep scouring the rosters of teams near and far, but if we've missed someone drop us a line and we'll add them to the northwest players to watch list.

If you know of a regional player we may have missed, drop us a line at Northcoastreviewpr@yahoo.ca or through our twitter feed.

Our full list of Northwest players taking their skills to a new level can be explored here, we will be updating the feature through the winter and into the Spring, so check back often to see how the players are progressing.

To follow the path of the up and comers at the Local level see our PRMHA archive page here.

The Coy Cup is the goal for the Prince Rupert Rampage and you can follow their season here.
