For Prince Rupert and area high school students, it's an end to one chapter and the start of another for the Grads of SD52 tonight

Charles Hays Secondary graduates and their families are only a few hours aaway
now from a moment for the family archives, as the SD52 Graduation
ceremony gets underway at the Lester Centre at 7PM

Tonight is the night for the graduating class of Charles Hays Secondary, the days of rehearsals now over, the stage of the Lester Centre beckons this evening as the graduates make for their walk down to the stage and the final celebration of their work through four years of high school.

The evening will be one where the focus won't be on School Budgets, curriculum decisions or infrastructure repairs, but rather on academic achievement and the milestone moment in all families lives that Graduation brings.

Graduation week began on Wednesday for the School District, as School and District officials joined the graduates of Pacific Coast School for their Commencement ceremony on Wednesday.

Tonight, it's a larger contingent from the Prince Rupert Boulevard campus, 116 in total, that will make the journey from their days of high school to whatever may come next. Whether its on to the workforce, further education at post secondary institutions or maybe a period of travel to serve as the bridge.

Some will stay close to home to take on their future, whether at work in the community, or to continue their studies at Coast Mountain College. Others may already have heard of their acceptance at far off universities and colleges where they will chart their next path forward in their lives, with much more to come.

The evening will feature guest speakers, the address of the valedictorians and the distribution of bursaries from the community, a tradition in the School District that highlights the commitment of community towards its youth and their future plans.

Tonight's ceremony starts at 7 PM at the Lester Centre.

To all of the Graduates of School District 52, the North Coast Review offers up our Best Wishes and Best of Luck with what comes next in your lives.

You can follow the Rupert Schools Social Media stream for any updates on the plans for this evening.
