Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue takes training to new heights

Photo from PRFD Facebook page

The newly renovated Digby Tower provided Prince Rupert Fire fighters with some valuable high rise training last week, with the city's Fire Department staging just below the east side building overlooking McBride for some extensive work.

The Fire Department noting of their efforts through their Facebook feed, thanking the owner of the building to allow them to train there and highlighting how the exercise provided some invaluable experience.

"Today fire crews were able to conduct high rise fire training scenarios at digby towers. Firefighters were able to train on complex high rise fire suppression benchmarks to better prepare firefighters response to fire in tall buildings.

Having the opportunity to be able to train in buildings within our district is a great benefit to our firefighters."

The PRFD also has more items of note from their training available from their Facebook page.

While the Firefighters had their chance to explore the features of the new building and what they need to know in the event of any emergency calls for the future, there is still no indication from ownership as to when the renovated structure will be opened for residence.
