A Canadian Coast Guard vessel and its crew have played a major role in delivering the latest addition to the next Canadian census count.
With The Coast Guard relaying some notes on a unique call for service through the Prince Rupert Coast Guard Station that had Coast Guard crew members take on the role of the stork.
In an item posted to the Coast Guard Social Media stream on August 31st, the Coast Guard outlines the travels of the vessel CCGS Florencia Bay, dispatched to Tuck Inlet to transport two BC EHS medics back to Prince Rupert with a pregnant woman and her partner the subject of the mission at hand.
As they note, Officer in Charge Jeff McDonald observed that they could see Prince Rupert when Emergency Health Services attendant Andrew announced the safe deliver of a new baby girl, the delivery assisted by Rescue Specialist Christie Corbett.
The new parents and their new daughter are reported as doing well and receiving congratulations on a pretty special story for their memory books.
The Crew on board for the special mission include
Joey Banys, Brehnen Rowell, Christie Corbett, Captain Jeff and Emergency Health Services attendants Andrew and Chris on a very special night!
The Coast Guard notes and a heap of praise for the work of all involved can be reviewed here.
