Tributes flow upon word of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle

The BBC provided the News Alert for the world on Thursday morning announcing of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the news fast breaking narrative since the early morning of the first alert of her dire health situation that dominated the morning news programming.

"The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

At 96 years old Queen Elizabeth was the longest serving Monarch for both the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth with a reign of 70 years.

The official announcement came shortly after 10:30 AM British Columbia time and since that time the official commemorations of the Long Serving Monarch have begun to come in, as both government officials and many others share remembrances.

We will add to the list of those remembrances as they become available.

The BBC obituary provides for the definitive word on her life and passing.
