MLA's Week: April 29-May 2, 2019

Back from a two week Easter Break, the commentary in the Legislature Chamber was light for the two representatives in the Northwest.

For North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice her sole contribution in the Chamber was an introduction of a constituent on Tuesday morning.

Skeena's Ellis Ross also had few notes in the Legislature Chamber as well, making for one introduction on the week.

However he did have some extensive work in Committee, appearing as part of Budget estimates discussion on Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.

This was also a week that saw the Provincial Government deliver another round of rural dividend funding across BC, with both the riding's of Stikine and Skeena receiving funding for a range of projects and initiatives.

Funding also made its way to a few pockets of the North Coast and Haida Gwaii, through there were no announcements to make note of for Prince Rupert, Port Edward and area First Nations from this most recent distribution of Thursday morning.

For our readers from the Terrace-Kitimat region, Skeena MLA Ellis Ross had one mentions in the Legislative Chamber listings  from April 29 to May 2

That an introduction of a visitor in the gallery on Monday afternoon.

The Skeena MLA did however make for some frequent contributions to the discussion in a Committee Session related to Indigenous Relations and Reconciliations.

A fair portion of Mr. Ross's engagement to the topic put some focus on the current government engagement with the Wet'suwe'ten First Nation in the Bulkley Valley.
