COVID measures and advice for residents put in place over possible case of coronavirus in Lax Kw'alaams

A notice for residents of Lax Kw'alaams has outlined the approach of caution that community leaders are taking with the prospect of a possible COVID case in the community, an advisory from Mayor Garry Reece from yesterday making note of the measures that have been put in place.

Among some of the Mayor's themes the closure of all public buildings and the community school, as well as a reminder towards make wearing and hand sanitizing, as well the Mayor provided for a reassuring tone with a call for residents not to panic at the release of the information from Thursday.

While on alert from the report, there are no travel restrictions in place to or from the community, though residents are reminded to carry their vaccination cards with them if they plan to travel out of the community.

In his update, the Mayor observed as to how they are awaiting further confirmation towards the report.

"Moving into the Long Weekend and until we have confirmation of possible direct contacts Public building will remain closed. Emergency services at the clinic

We should have a better idea in the next 48 hours and will update the community at that time, hopefully no later than Monday

There is no need to isolate if you are double vaccinated and have not been called as a direct contact."
