One of Prince Rupert's popular hiking and walking trails has been closed to the public owing to the recent extreme weather events, with the Tall Trees Trail on the Do Not Use list after significant rain last week.

In a notice to trail enthusiasts from Kaien Trails, the local group advises that further risk assessment is underway, with a warning that use of the trail is at your own risk.

An update from BC Recreation Sites and Trails also alerts residents to the dangers of the trail at this current time.

With another Weather System set to arrive on the North Coast for this weekend, the potential for more notes of concern towards the trail will be something that have local trail users watching for.

You can follow the Kaien Trails Facebook page for further updates on the status of the trail and other recreation areas of the region.
