Update: Chamber Officials advise that the Thursday October 6th Luncheon has been postponed with a new date to come in the future, see the Chamber website for further information when available.

The October 6th edition of the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce will provide an opportunity for a community update from the Prince Rupert Port Authority's Ken Veldman, with the Vice President for Public Affairs and Sustainability the guest for the Virtual  luncheon which takes place from 11:45 AM to 1PM.

Among the topics he plans to review for the audience, some thoughts on the results taken from the recent. Economic Impact Study released by the Gateway partners, as well as an update on the "Make Prince Rupert Home campaign"

We made note of the Impact study upon its release in September, the document one which highlights the scope of how Port operations have contributed to the economies of not only the immediate Prince Rupert area, but for many communities along the Northern corridor through to Prince George.

The Gateway partners which include many of the prominent terminal operators on the Prince Rupert waterfront, highlight the 60 billion dollars in trade that passes through port facilities creating  more than 3700 direct jobs, a range of spin off employment and revenue streams for all three levels of government of Federal, provincial and municipals

The Make Prince Rupert Home project which was launched in February of this year, was co production of a range of partners and features an extensive array of elements to showcase the area as one for would be residents to put down some roots.

It uses a mix of social media platforms like this from Facebook, posting items of interest on the Prince Rupert area, as well as to provide a starting point for those looking to make a career in Prince Rupert with a listing of recent career positions that are available in the region.

The focus for the program was relayed back in February prior to launch, with the Port and its partners outlining the vision that they had for how the program would work

The PRPA VP will provide the look at the progress of the initiative and perhaps how it may evolve in the months ahead.
