City notes of some communication issues for 911 on cellular networks

The City of Prince Rupert has posted an advisory on the status of some communication service issues when it comes to access 911 service on cellular networks, posting a short notice to the City website this afternoon. The advisory was also relayed through the City website and mobile app program.

There are few details associated with the advisory other than it is a provincial wide matter, related to flooding issues.

Earlier this week, the Prince Rupert detachment had noted of communication issues related to non-emergency service in the community.

  1. Will City Hall change course on the Rogers cell tower build?

City hall appears to be more concerned about the aesthetics of a new cell tower near BC Hydro then the safety of it residents.

Citywest is not in the cellular data game and if Rogers got the greenlight to build towers on Haida Gwaii, get one built here.
