City of Prince Rupert lifts Water Advisory

Conditions at the Shawatlans water supply area have seemingly settled down, with the City of Prince Rupert removing its water advisory of early February today, making note of the change just after 4PM.

Residents are advised that all water quality advisories have now been lifted. If water users continue to see a milky quality or sediment in their water, please run cold water, preferably through your bathtub or laundry sink taps, until it is cleared.

Do not run appliances that use the water system (laundry, dishwasher, fridges) until water runs clear.

For more information the commuinication office points to the City of Prince Rupert’s website or to contact the Operations Department.

The City also observes that they anticipate an improvement to water quality in the Spring, when we bring our new dam online and can return to our primary water source at Woodworth Lake.

The full information release can be reviewed here.

The most recent advisory was issued on February 10th making note of Turbidity issues at the time.

More notes on previous civic notes can be explored through our Council Discussion archive.
