47 minute Prince Rupert power outage attributed to bird strike

Some Rupertites may have slept in, a few may have had to do without their first morning coffee, that as a Thursday morning power outage interrupted the routine for most early risers in the City .

The power went off at 6:25 AM, the cause as relayed by BC Hydro that of a bird strike on their wires, one which knocked out the power for 2,335 customers.

Only an area of the Industrial park was spared of the outage for the morning.

Crews dispatched by BC Hydro had the city powered back up by 7:12 AM
