Convocation Day for the Class of 2022 at UNBC in Prince George |
A good number of those taking to the stage today come from the Prince Rupert area as well as around the northwest and Haida Gwaii. Today marking the final day of one chapter of their lives, with new adventures just around the corner.
Today's ceremonies and other regional ceremonies to come next week mark the 29th Convocation for the University, with the 2022 ceremonies to mark the walk for the 16,000th student at the academic institution.
"It is a momentous occasion to know the 16,000th graduate will be granted credentials at this year's Convocation. This milestone represents a significant individual achievement and also offers a moment of collective celebration for residents across the region, as the potential of a university in the north, for the north continues to be realized.
We are also excited that circumstances have changed to allow students to gather and celebrate graduation with their classmates, as well as their families and friends that were so supportive during their academic journey.” -- UNBC President Dr. Geoff Payne.
Next week two ceremonies in Northwest BC will pay tribute to the academic success of students that earned their degrees in the region, with a May 30th ceremony in Terrace and one in Gitwinksihlkw on May 31st.
The 2022 Convocation will wrap up with a June 3rd event in Quesnel.
