There's nary a soul on the promenade of the Northland Cruise Ship Terminal today, but come Tuesday morning that will change as the Ruby Princess arrives in port marking a start to Prince Rupert's 2022 Cruise Ship Season |
Workers with the Prince Rupert Port Authority have been doing a little Spring cleaning this week along the twin Port properties of the Northland and Atlin Terminals, that as the first of what suddenly will be a very busy cruise ship season looms on the horizon.
As we outlined one week ago, the PRPA announced a last minute addition to the cruise ship lineup for the 2022 Prince Rupert Cruise season.
An addition that will bring the Princess Cruise Ship line to the city for fifteen visits, with the first to come on Tuesday May 17th, when the Ruby Princess makes her debut port call at Northland for this year.
The vessel and her potential travelling party of 3,000 passengers and 1, 100 crew members will arrive at Northland at 8 AM on Tuesday, with an eight hour port call on the agenda, the ship departs Prince Rupert harbour at 4 PM
In addition to the pressure washer cleaning and other touch ups around the two terminals, the Port has also added a couple of new rest stops for visitors in the Atlin Terminal area, installing some picnic benches this week along the boulevard area.
As Tuesday and the start of the 2022 season nears,
Tourism Prince Rupert has issued a call for volunteers for the Cruise Ship Ambassador Program in the city, looking for residents that are able to lend a hand in the welcome to Prince Rupert for visitors as they arrive.
What the program is looking for are volunteers with good communication skills when talking to people of all ages, who are knowledgeable about the history of Prince Rupert, and who are familiar with the regular tourist sites and places to visit.
The program notes that you need to be able to work as a team with other volunteers to present Prince Rupert in the most favourable light.
