The month of May has been somewhat of a hit and miss situation so far, for those looking to get in a few laps at the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre.
With the Prince Rupert Recreation Department providing for a number of updates since the start of May, noting of pool closures or limited use situations.
Safety measures require a specific number of staff members to be on duty to allow for pool attendance, and like many communities across the province, Prince Rupert has had some challenges in recruiting life guards and other pool staff members to ensure that the guidelines are met.
The challenges of May, don't seem much different from the observations of the situation we made note of in January.
With summer fast approaching, Parents and Guardians will be hoping that the recruitment work proves successful to allow for a few months of swimming fun, thatbbefore the facility closes for its annual maintenance period.
You can review the list of past closures or delayed openings as well as the calls for applicants for positions at the Aquatic Centre from the Prince Rupert Recreation Department Facebook page.
