The monthly meeting of North Coast Regional District for the month of May tackled a range of topics for the Regional representatives, with recreation, health care, internet access and fishing themes among some of the topics up for discussion.
Of note from their work of May 27th was a presentation from Nick Adey of the Skeena Motocross Association who appeared at the District session to provide an overview towards possible locations for off road motocross in the region.
As part of his presentation to the Regional body, Mr. Adey also made note of some of the plans for the Association to incorporate itself as a Society.

The prospect of providing CityWest last mile connectivity to Port Edward also made for a theme on the night, with the Regional District membership resolving to begin conversations with the Prince Rupert based Communication company to explore providing that service.
Fishing themes made for a pair of initiatives for the Regional District Board, with support for a labour market study for the commercial sector and a resolution to request a meeting with provincial minister Josie Osborne to discuss the state of BC's Commercial fisheries, with a plan to invite all regional districts with coastal communities to attend any such meeting.
Also of note provincially, Regional District representatives will be sending a letter to the BC Electoral Area Boundaries Commission opposing any expansion of the North Coast riding.
Health Care also made for some work on May 27th, with the Board appointing Director Nobels (Electoral Area A), Director Bergman (Electoral Area C), Director Olsen (Village of Queen Charlotte), and Director Pages (Village of Masset) to the Northern Health Authority’s Healthy Communities Integration Committee.
The Board also approved the Draft 2021 Audited Financial Statements. Details on the District's past financial themes can be reviewed here.
