New route for 2022 for Seafest Parade return on Saturday

With the days quickly counting down to the return of Seafest, this years parade which makes its return to the streets of Prince Rupert on Saturday will see the parade participants cover less of the city streets than in years previous.

A note on the Special Events Social Media stream notes of a change for the 2022 parade, which will only transit down Third Avenue this year, with no journey along Second Avenue West.

As for its transit, the parade will form up between 7th and 6th Streets and travel eastbound starting at 11 AM along Third Avenue West, coming to a conclusion at McBride Street. The Float Check in takes place at 9th Street.

Special events has not outlined what factors went into the decision to shorten the route this year.

The 2022 Seafest Parade will have a shorter route, with the floats and
participants marshalling in the vicinity of 6th and 7th Streets, while the
parade will travel eastbound on Third Avenue West ending at McBride Street

The 2022 parade opens up the weekend of events for the 44th edition of the festival and will be the first in person parade in over two years, with the popular downtown parade event cancelled over the last two years owing to COVID.

As the event draws closer, there is still a need for volunteers for the events you can contact Special Events organizers to lend a hand at prspecialevents@citywest.ca. or use the link on the Prince Rupert Special Events website.

You can follow any updates on the parade and other Seafest events from the Special Events Facebook page.
