With only a few exceptions, Most Communities of Northwest mark 0 cases of COVID for reporting period of May 22-28

The ebb and flow of COVID reports across the Northwest continues to be one of mostly slight decreases or increases, with no significant surge recorded in a number of weeks  by Northern Health or the BC CDC

This week's report for the period of May 11-28 saw declines to zero cases of COVID for most Northwest communities, with Kitimat the only outlier to that collective,  jumping from 0 cases one week ago to nine this week, leading the Northwest in reports

Terrace which has been leading the Northwest listings for much of the year,  declined to five cases from a week ago.

Haida Gwaii returned to zero cases for this period, a mark noted by the Nass Valley, Upper Skeena and Smithers, Snow Country and Central Coast and Bella Coola Valley regions as well.

Prince Rupert remains as it was last week, with 1 case the mark for the city.

The highest numbers listed in Northern British Columbia's continue to come from its largest community, with Prince George recording a case count of 25 in the period which is a decline of thirteen case reports from last week.

The full review across the region for the week of May 22-28  from the BC CDC looks as follows:

Burns Lake --  3 cases
Nechako --  3 cases
Prince Rupert -- 1 case
Smithers -- cases
Bella Coola Valley -- 0 cases
Haida Gwaii -- 0 cases
Upper Skeena --  0 cases
Nisga'a Region -- 0 case
Snow Country-Stikine-Telegraph Creek --  0 cases
Central Coast --  0 cases

The Provincial Data Review looks as follows:

1,163 New Cases, with 421 hospitalized, 41 in Critical Care and 44 new deaths from COVID reported. The total number of deaths in BC since the start of the coronavirus is 3,547 to date.

There have been 371,720 cases of COVID recorded in the province since the arrival of the pandemic

As of June 2nd the Province had delivered 12,485,334 first, second or booster shots of the COVID Vaccine, with a fourth booster program for specific groups underway.

Thursday's provincial report lists  66 new cases of COVID for the Northern Health region for the reporting week. That makes for a total of 30,285 cases recorded since the start of the pandemic.

For the Northern Health Region in total as of Thursday, 11 patients are listed as in hospital, with one noted as in Critical Care, the Northern Health region recorded two new deaths this week, the Northern Health total of deaths attributed to COVID is listed as 350 since the start of the pandemic.

The  breakdown of hospitalizations by community in the Northern Health region is not included in the data release information.
