BC Ferries to maintain Fuel Rebate for Northern routes, while changes ahead for rest of system

The Northern Expedition approaching the Prince Rupert
Ferry Terminal at Fairview Bay

Travellers on BC Ferry transits between Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii and Prince Rupert and Port Hardy will continue to get a slight break on their fares, with the Fuel Rebate program to remain in place in the North, while it is removed for southern routes as of December 1st.

The announcement came yesterday from BC Ferries which comes following a range of investments in the fleet for the southern routes.

As noted above, the the fuel rebate will be removed on all routes with the exception of the Port Hardy – Prince Rupert, Prince Rupert – Haida Gwaii and Port Hardy – Central Coast routes.

These routes have a separate mechanism pertaining to the cost of fuel and the rebate will remain at 1.5 per cent until further notice.
