Extensive Weekend search around Prince Rupert area turns up No Trace of Missing Michael Kitchener

The Prince Rupert RCMP will return to trying to map out the last travels of Michael Kitchener through the eyes and dash cams of residents and visitors to the city, that after an extensive search by Search and Rescue members from across Northern BC found no traces of the young runner last seen on October 22nd.

The coordinated weekend search had provided the SAR experts with the space to explore many corners of the areas that were considered a key part of the search terrain, the search included both ground and air resources as they explored vast tracts of the route, including both the Butze and Tall Trees Trail systems.

Both Butze and Tall Trees Trails were closed to the public
over the weekend to allow for the coordinated search

However as Sunday came to an end, the work of the SAR personnel both local and from out of town was suspended, pending any new developments that would require an extensive search area to be explored once again.

As a result, the Prince Rupert RCMP will now continue on with its work of mapping out the travels of the 21 year old male, last seen near the SPCA area of Highway 16 at around 6:30 PM of October 22nd.

Mounties will continue the investigation by seeking out personal accounts and video sources as they try to find an answer to the near two week old disappearance.

Should you have any information or video of the young man you are asked to contact the Prince Rupert detachment of the RCMP at 250-627-0700 or 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS)
