Rampage take two points from Kitimat in dominating game Saturday night

The Prince Rupert Rampage found their scoring groove on Saturday night, finding the back of the net often in a road game appearance in Kitimat.

By the time that the final seconds ticked off the clock at the Tamitik Arena, the Rhinos had scored seven times in a convincing 7-1 victory over the Ice Demons, reversing their struggles of opening night when the Ice Demons spoiled the home opener plans of October.

The Rampage opened the scoring at 14:45 of the first frame with Hunter Johnson breaking the ice on the night, assisted by Judd Repole.  That marker following two minutes later by Austin Weir with an unassisted goal to take the Rhinos into intermission at 2-0.

The Rupert side continued their dominance in the second with three more to add to the total, with goals from Jared Meers on the power play with a helper from Kory Moved and two from Austin Weir, both assisted by Hunter Johnson.

The Ice Demons pick up their only goal on the night five minutes into the third, but the Rampage shut down any thoughts of making a run for a comeback with two more goals to seal the game away.

Jared Meers and Kory Moved teaming up again on a Meers market at 11 minutes and fourth goal on the night for Austin Weir, assisted by Hunter Johnson and Kory Moved.

Kieran Sharpe lived up to his name on the night, sharp in the Rupert end of the rink turning aside all of the Ice Demon shots but one.

The Kitimat side did not take kindly to such a wide margin on the scoreboard, that made clear by the penalty count by night's end, with the Ice Demons serving 30 minute on 11 infractions, while the Rampage were assessed 18 minutes on 9 penalty calls.

625 fans took in the game at the Tamitik Arena.

The full scoresheet can be reviewed here.

The Rampage will have some travelling ahead of them at the end of this Remembrance Week, with a two game road trip set for a stop in Williams Lake on Saturday night and an afternoon match up Sunday in Quensel.
