CN Rail introduces new President and CEO as Tracy Robinson takes the throttle of key transportation provider


CN Rail has announced who will chart the future for the railway into the future, announcing on Monday that they have selected Tracy Robinson to take on the duties of President and CEO.

The New Executive comes from the oil patch where she served as Executive VP at TC Energy and President of Canadian Natural Gas Pipelines, but she arrives with an extensive background in rail operations that from her previous 27 years at Canadian Pacific Railway.

Ms. Robinson, who will be joining CN from TC Energy and previously spent almost three decades at Canadian Pacific, is a well-respected and seasoned public company executive who brings more than 35 years of operational management, strategy development, and project execution experience to drive growth and profitability to CN. She has a proven track record as an extraordinary high-performing leader, for which she is highly regarded within the Canadian federal and provincial regulated natural gas industry and beyond.

Among some of her past achievements that CN has made note of with their announcement of this week is her previous work towards engagement with Indigenous partners.

Ms. Robinson helped advance TC Energy’s relationships with Indigenous partners across the country, including the development of agreements with a number of Indigenous communities in Alberta and the advancement of agreements with all 20 of the First Nations along the Coastal GasLink corridor.

The New President and CEO takes over from Jean-Jacques Ruest who departed from the CN Board on Monday, but will remain in an advisory role until the end of March to assist with the transition period.
