Update: On Friday afternoon Environment Canada ended their Special Weather Statement
Late August brought the North Coast a preview of the traditional fall rain patterns, and this weekend, the start of September will bring a reminder of the winds that will come when storm season ramps up in October/November.
A Special Weather Statement issued by Environment Canada on Thursday afternoon has advised of the potential for winds of up to 100 km/h by Saturday afternoon, with the early push forward to come Friday evening.
A wider advisory could be issued Friday as the approaching system develops a more direct path for the winds as it gets closer to landfall.
The Current Weather Statement is in effect for both Haida Gwaii and the North Coast
Rainfall totals that will come with the weekend weather system indicate up to a total of 95 mm of precipitation forecast by the end of Labour Day
