Work will take place through September to put a new surface and add new equipment to the Mariner's Park Playground |
The sunny weather over the weekend provided for a fitting farewell for now for use of the Pacific Mariner's Park playground, with many families taking advantage of some nice weather on the North Coast to take in a day at the downtown park.
While there, hey perhaps took note of the new information sign posted by the City of Prince Rupert, advising that as of this week, the park will be closed to use while a major renovation project is launched.
The City outlined it's plans for the park in mid-August noting that the playground would be closed to the public until early October.
The renovation project is being led by the Prince Rupert Lions Club and will see a new rubber surface put in place as a base for the play site, as well the location will see some new equipment installed as part of the playground makeover.
The Lions Club recently offered up a glimpse of the work ahead, with a snap shot of some new equipment arriving in town. You can keep up to date on their work on the project from their Facebook page.
