An information sharing session for members of the Metlakatla community is coming up later this month, as the Metlakatla Stewardship Society and researchers from Simon Fraser University review the results of the 2018 butter clam surveys.

The first of what is a two step approach to the review of the findings comes with a Community Meeting set for Thursday, March 21st from 6 to 8 PM at the Nisga'a Hall on Third Avenue West in Prince Rupert.

The two hour session which includes a meal, presentation and follow up discussion will set the stage for a Saturday event, the Community Clam Harvest Day where participants will be transported to an area near Dundas Point where a clam digging demonstration will take place.

The Saturday event is described as one that is available to both new and experienced harvesters alike.

The trip to Dundas Point will depart from two locations, the Metlakatla dock at 7:30 AM and Prince Rupert Dock at 7:50 AM

The approximate time of return to the two locations is around the 12:30 mark

Organizers are looking for RSVP from Metlakatla members, with the deadline to indicate your plan to attend set for March 15th.

Those who are interested in either of the two events or need more information can contact Patty Sankey at 250-628-3201 extension 2027
