A somewhat undiscovered Northwest gem from the Internet for your Friday today, with a look at some sideline work from a Haida Gwaii medical practitioner, who chronicles life in the Queen Charlotte area of the islands through a comic strip.

Dr. Caroline Shooner is the creator of the Boon Docs, something she puts together when she's not tending to patients as a family physician, originally from Montreal she has been part of the Queen Charlotte medical community since 2007.

The project looks at more than just medicine, but at the way of life in small town and rural  Canada and the challenges and benefits that life outside the large cities can offer.

The Northern Health website introduces us to the Doctor and her work, as well as offering a link to the ongoing stories to be found on Haida Gwaii.
