A new wildfire in the Northwest has caught the attention of the BC Wild Fire Service, with crews dispatched to a fire burning about 75 kilometres north of Meziadan Junction, four kilometres south of Bell II.
The smouldering ground fire was reported late in the evening of August 7th and currently covers about 10 hectares near Mehan Lake on the west side of Highway 37 North, it is not currently spreading too much beyond that area.

To attack the fire twenty fire fighters and one helicopter are on the scene, with twenty more fire fighters currently enroute.
Travellers are advised that smoke will be visible from the Bell II area along the highway corridor and to travel with caution should they be travelling along the route while the fire is still burning.
