The North Coast Fishing Fleet is finding more and more time tied up this summer as a range of Fishery measures are put in place owing to poor returns |
With DFO announcing a string of closures and other measures on the North Coast fishery in recent weeks, the fishing opportunities seem to be dwindling as disappointing returns have made for some hard decisions to make when it comes to the pre season expectations.
Today, those members of the Lax Kw'alaams Band who fish commercially will have an opportunity to attend an Information session regarding the Skeena Sockeye Closure.
The session is set for 2 PM today at the Lax Kw'alaams Business Development Office at 100 1st Avenue East. And is open to members of the Lax Kw'alaams Band only.
Fisherman from the Band will receive the latest updates on expectations and what measures may be put in place and how it all may impact on the commercial season .
For a look at some of the recent moves on both the Skeena and the Nass systems, as well as other notes related to the BC Fishery see our archive page here.
