With Thanksgiving road trips underway, ICBC offers up some safety tips for motorists

Travel along Highway 16 will see an increase through to Monday
as travellers head out for their Thansgiving weekend travels

Thanksgiving Day will send a good number of Northwest residents to the roadways, as family and friends gather for the annual meal of turkey, potatoes and other fine ingredients to the annual celebration.

As they take to the highways, the BC Highway Patrol will be on the watch for speeding motorists and dangerous drivers with an enforcement campaign towards road safety through the month.


Also making note of the weekend ahead is ICBC, which has posted a range of tips for drives to their website to help make for a safe long weekend ahead. 

Of note from their update, some statistics that show of the dangers that are possible for those who take to the roads: 580 people are injured and three people are killed in 1,900 crashes every year. Distracted driving, impaired driving and speed are the top three contributing factors in these crashes.
