Opportunity knocks for young entrepreneurs on Friday!

A new initiative for young people in the Northwest is about to be launched this week, as the ThriveNorth program prepares to hold an information session tomorrow at the North Coast Convention Centre, located in the Chances complex on 1st Avenue West.

A partnership between Futurpreneur And BG Canada, the Thrive North project is looking to provide entrepreneurship opportunities for youth in the region, giving them access to the resources, mentor ship and financing necessary to launch their own business.

Among one of the items of interest for local youth is the ThriveNorth Business Challenge, an open competition where young people ages 18-39 can submit their unique business ideas that will contribute to a thriving local economy.

Those selected as finalists in that challenge will have the opportunity to win up to 10,000 dollars in cash prizes.  You can learn more about that aspect of the ThriveNorth program here.

The program launches in Terrace this afternoon and then travels to Prince Rupert for Friday's information session, that event takes place at from 4 to 6 PM at the Convention Centre.

Those interested in attending can register here, or contact  Lisa Meuller at lmueller@futurpreneur.ca or call her at 250-639-4633

An overview of what the program is all about can be found on their website, with updates also available from their twitter feed and Facebook page.
